How Long Does it Take to Read Each Book of the Bible?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? The Bible is a really big book, but it’s made up of 66 individual books that vary in size. Did you know that many of those books can be read in one-hour reading sessions? Approximately 40 of the 66 books of the Bible can be read in a period of one hour. So, for those of you who like statistics, that means that 61% of all Bible books can be read in one hour’s time. Not every book will take you one hour to read, some books might only take five minutes while others might be more challenging. The point is that more than half of the books of the Bible can be easily read in a short period of time.

The average person consumes roughly 3 hours of TV and/or media every day; now think for a moment what could be accomplished if you applied those 3 hours to Bible reading. That means that if you turned off the TV, picked up your Bible, and read it each night for 3 hours or less you could read 61 of the 66 books (92%). You could read more than 90% of the Bible in just 61 days! The only books you could not read in an average night would be Genesis, Psalms, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. However, reading these books would only take an additional hour each night.

If you haven’t started our Bible reading plan for 2022, which requires just 15 minutes a day of your time, then now is the time to begin. You can jump into the plan at any time during the year. Remember, you can make time for whatever is important to you ... and I hope reading God’s Word is important to you!
