Due to inclement weather, the 9 a.m. service for Sunday, Jan. 20 has been cancelled. We will have one morning service at 10:45 a.m. as road conditions improve.

Update from the Stipp Family

Greetings to all of our wonderful friends who lift us up in prayer!

“Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) 51 Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? 52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee?” John 7:50-52

Being in the Lord’s service is a privilege and a blessing. However, the ministry has its difficult aspects. For me, one of those is not being able to see what the Holy Spirit is doing in hearts behind the scenes particularly in the lives of those who have heard the Gospel and have apparently rejected it. We have no indication that Nicodemus accepted the testimony of Christ in Jn. 3. We do know that by the time of the crucifixion, Nicodemus had finally made the decision to honor the Lord regardless of the cost. But, here in Jn. 7 I believe that I see a man still wrestling with whether Jesus is the Christ or not. He is intimidated; he can still be bullied by the leaders of his old faith. But I think we can observe that the Holy Spirit is working on him.

With the lengthy introduction, I wish to present another aspect of our “English Table” outreach. Over our eleven years in Plasencia, Spain, we have made friends of dozens of Spanish young people through this encounter. As many as we can, we invite you to study the Bible or to visit our local Church. Several have heard crystal clear presentations of the Gospel. Very few ever respond to the Gospel. Because of a complete lack of job opportunities in Plasencia, these will sooner or later move on, not accepting Christ. Discouraging!

Like for many of you, we have noticed that another aspect of the COVID outbreak is the effect on the economy. Jobs have dried up and some of our English students have been forced back to Plasencia. Three in particular, “M”, “E” and “S” have come back but have gone out of their way to seek us out. Why? We don’t know. Because of the great differences that exist between us in age and marital status, we believe that the Lord is giving us a second chance to touch their lives and influence them for Christ. Please pray for our continued English outreach but especially for these three. We see the Lord is still at work.

Thank you again for praying for our physical well being. In the past few weeks, Hillary was finally able to have the tumor removed in a procedure that was recommended to us back before the outbreak of the virus. She is recovering rapidly and is cancer-free. For this, we thank you and praise the Lord.

Thank you again for sacrificing all that you do on our behalf that we may serve the Lord in this place and at this time!

Gratefully in His Service,
Mark and Hillary
