Due to inclement weather, the 9 a.m. service for Sunday, Jan. 20 has been cancelled. We will have one morning service at 10:45 a.m. as road conditions improve.

Update from the Humphrey Family (New Zealand)

'I discovered that when I start my day with the Lord, reading his Word and praying to Him, I have peace throughout the day as I work.'   'John and Mihyon use to tell me of how God has worked in their lives and how He has worked in the lives of others, but now I have experienced it for myself.'  'Now I know exactly what they have been talking about.' This is just a small part of what Mike shared last night during our Friday evening Bible study.  Mike, now 37 years old, husband and father of two boys, came to Auckland from China for university study in his early 20's.  We first met Mike many years ago when he had no interest in spiritual things.   We have seen the various stages of transformation in his life; of trusting Christ as his Savior, of growing in his newfound faith as a young Christian and now to ever greater maturity in the Lord.  What a wonderful, godly transformation of his life as he grows in his personal relationship with Christ and teaches his two boys to love God and His Word!  He is taking God's Word very seriously; spending 1 to 2 hours each morning with the Lord before he starts his day.  We had encouraged him to experience God's faithfulness by walking with Him in prayer and study of His Word.  He is putting God first in his life and even during the Covid-19 lockdown in New Zealand, God has continued to provide his needs and those of his family.

It has been our prayer that the Lord would continue to use us to lead people to Himself, trusting Him as their Lord and Saviour and then providing opportunities to guide them to a mature faith so they can reproduce themselves.  Not simply decisions, but disciples!   For the 20 plus years of our foreign missions ministry, I have kept a journal.  I have recorded the names of many people who have trusted Christ as their Saviour.  We have had the opportunity to disciple the vast majority of them and to watch them grow in their faith and in their faithfulness to our Lord.  Of course, you will one day meet them in heaven and they will no doubt thank you personally for your part in reaching them with the gospel message and with their understanding of the Christian faith.  We always feel so blessed to be able to do the Lord's work as we seek to evangelize and disciple people to mature faith in the Lord!  We see the result of our sowing and watering years earlier.  What a wonderful harvest the Lord is producing!

We are so encouraged to see people more open to greater spiritual growth in our various Bible studies each week.  It seems like the Lord is blessing our service for Him in even greater ways.  Three of our weekly Bible study groups meet in person, while two still meet via Zoom as some of the members live in China, Australia, and other parts of New Zealand.  They enjoy John's teaching and most importantly, love our Lord!

New Zealand has a few active Covid-19 cases.  As far as the government can determine, all of those folks are all in mandatory quarantine at various designated hotels throughout the country.  All of the active cases are from those citizens or permanent resident (PR) visa holders who have recently returned to NZ.  The border remains closed to all except NZ citizens and those with PR visas,  but New Zealand is completely open now within the country with no restrictions.

We continue to pray for you all as we keep up with the current events in the U.S.A.  May the Lord keep you safe and give you peace!  What a privilege to serve the Lord!  Thank you for making it possible for us to do the work of the Lord here in Auckland, New Zealand.

With grateful hearts,
John & Mihyon Humphrey
